Our Story

Marco and Katie met in Houston in January 2017. Their first date, they got a coffee at Whole Foods then took a walk along Buffalo Bayou park. At first, it was clear, they were just going to be friends since Marco was planning to move back to Italy that the summer. Because Marco didn’t have many Americans friends in Houston at that time (and didn’t like Houston—at all), Katie felt the need to show him the local spots and to basically be his tour guide of the city. After a couple months of hanging out, and taking Marco all around Houston, the two started to like each other more than friends and began dating. In Marco’s words, he was “blinded by the beauty of this blonde-Texan” and made him change his mind. He postponed his return back to Italy. Then the rest was history...

Wedding Reception

The reception will be held at the Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi in Camogli. Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi is the former summer home of the aristocratic Dogi family and is situated on the foot of the Portofino mountains with dramatic views of the sea and village. The hotel is within short walking distance from the church. History, tradition and elegance combine to create an exclusive atmosphere throughout the hotel, nestled cosily among the century-old pine trees and pretty flower gardens. Yet the true protagonist here is the sea. It casts a spell on guests, whisking them away from the troubles of everyday life, transporting them to another dimension where they are mesmerized by the sound of waves.

Where And When

Camogli

A sea village that arose around the harbour where today tourist boats and fishing-boats berth. In Camogli the protagonist is the sea, always present in any activity and event. You will be spellbound by the beauty of the façades painted with pastel colours; these buildings close off the sea promenade. The beaches are equipped and with pebbles, those that are also used for the traditional risseu in black and white on the parvises of the churches: very beautiful is that of the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta in Camogli.

Getting there by Train

The town is very well connected with the Italian National Railway network. It lies on the Genova - La Spezia line and is served by numerous trains running daily. Genova for example is a short 20min train ride away.

Getting there by Air

The nearest airports to the Tigullio Gulf are Cristoforo Colombo International airport in Genova and Milan International Airport - Malpensa. Both operate national and international flights run by traditional and low cost airlines. However, you will find that flying to Cristoforo Colombo International airport in Genova is the most convenient option as it is the closest airport to Camogli, approximately 40km away or 22 miles. For those who need a transfer from the airport, you can contact Grace Italian Weddings at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
